SYDNEY and MCLEAN, Va. - A recent survey of credit card behaviour has revealed Australians remain passionate about travel, with almost half the population (46 percent) heading overseas at least once a year and 53 percent interested in a card that provides travel-related rewards. Surveying 1,000 people across Australia, the study, also found that over a quarter of people (27 percent) don't receive any rewards from their credit card and one in ten (13 percent) are unaware of what benefits their card offers. Hilton Worldwide commissioned the study as the hospitality company continues the launch of its Hilton HHonors Macquarie Platinum Card.

The survey provided insights on topics including travel purchases, desired destinations, use of travel rewards and when and where Australians are travelling. The survey also showed that Australians aged 18-34 were the most interested in the associated rewards provided by a credit card, with 75 percent considering them an important factor and 62 percent interested specifically in travel-related rewards, such as loyalty program points and travel insurance.
